The Surrender Novena was revealed by Jesus Christ to Servant of God Don Dolindo Ruotolo (1882-1970), an Italian priest mystic who received the stigmata (wounds of Christ). Fr. Dolindo is a candidate for beatification and was the spiritual director of St. Padre Pio, who referred to the holy man as a “saint” and said to him, “The whole of Paradise is in your soul.”
The Surrender Novena pleads that God will help us to entrust and surrender our problems and concerns or worries to Him, abandoning ourselves to His will and providence. This Novena is especially relevant in the turbulent and troubled times we live in, where things seems to be spiraling out of control in the Church and in our world.
It can be prayed at any time and when one is facing difficulties, overwhelming circumstances of life or when one wishes to increase in trust and surrender to Jesus. It inspires and helps us to let go of our need for control and to trust in God’s will and care.
Devotees of St. Padre Pio would benefit from developing a devotion to the Surrender Novena.
