The Eucharist and Fatima

Above video by Fr. Chad Ripperger is a sermon or teaching with images (around 20 minutes).

In Ecclesia de Eucharistia, the “Fatima pope”, St. John Paul II, wrote: “Mary is a ‘woman of the Eucharist’ in her whole life… the Church and the Eucharist are inseparably united, the same ought to be said of Mary and the Eucharist.”

The three shepherd children received Holy Communion for the first time from an angel at Fatima, who gave the Host to Lucia on the tongue and the Precious Blood to Jacinta and Francisco, saying, “Eat and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ terribly outraged by the ingratitude of men. Make reparation for their crimes and console your God.”

The three Fatima seers, were models of devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist. During St. Francisco’s final illness, he suffered much because he couldn’t go to the church “and stay awhile with the Hidden Jesus” – he loved to spend countless hours before the tabernacle consoling Jesus.

In 1919, 11-year-old St. Francisco died peacefully, despite suffering terribly from the influenza epidemic of 1918. His great desire to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist again was granted the day before he died. Although he had received from the chalice the angel offered him in 1916, this Communion before death was his First Holy Communion from a priest.

DECADE PRAYER

Our Lady asked us to pray this prayer after the Glory Be, at the end of each decade of the Rosary:

O MY JESUS, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are most in need of Thy mercy.

ANGEL’S PRAYER

When the Angel of Peace appeared at Fatima preceding Our Lady’s first appearance, he was holding a Chalice in his hands, with a Host above it from which some drops of Blood were falling into the Sacred vessel. The Angel left the chalice and host suspended in the air, and prostrated himself upon the ground with the children and prayed this prayer with them three times:

MOST Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

I adore Thee profoundly.

I offer Thee the Most Precious

Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ,

present in all the tabernacles of the world,

in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference

by which He is offended.

Through the infinite merits

of His Most Sacred Heart,

and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.

Amen.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

MOST HOLY TRINITY, I adore Thee! My God, My God,
I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

PARDON PRAYER

MY GOD, I believe, I adore, I trust, and I love Thee!
I ask pardon for those who do not believe,
do not adore, do not trust and do not love Thee.

SACRIFICE PRAYER

When Our Lady appeared to the children in July 1917, she reinforced what the angel had told them: “Sacrifice yourselves for sinners and say many times, especially when you make some sacrifice:

“O JESUS, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

A Plea from Heaven

FATIMA PEACE PLAN

At Fatima, Our Lady confided a “secret” to the children in three parts. On July 13, 1917, she said: “You saw hell where the souls of poor sinners go. In order to save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If people do what I ask, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end.”

After warning of the consequences of ignoring her message, Our Lady promised to return to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. If people attend to my request, Russia will be converted, and the world will have peace”. In addition to her mandate, the Blessed Virgin also stated that “[i]n Portugal, the dogmas of the faith will always be kept and then …” (At this point, the third part of the secret, commonly called “The Third Secret”, begins.)

On December 10, 1925, Our Lady appeared to Lucia with the Child Jesus and requested a Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays saying,

“… announce in my name that I promise to assist at the moment of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the First Saturday of five consecutive months shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for 15 minutes, while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me”.

In 1916, the children of Fatima were visited on three occasions by an angel who identified himself in his first apparition as the Angel of Portugal and asked them to pray. In his second apparition, the angel indicated the necessity of sacrifices:

“Pray, pray very much, the hearts of Jesus and Mary have designs of mercy on us. Offer prayers and sacrifices constantly to the Most High…. Make a sacrifice of everything you do and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended and in supplication for the conversion of sinners. You will thus draw down peace upon your country.”

When asked, in 1946, what Our Lady meant by sacrifices, Sister Lucia replied:

“By sacrifice, Our Lady meant the faithful fulfilment of one’s daily duty … the rosary is important because we must pray it if we are to fulfil our daily duty … the five First Saturdays Devotion is also important because if people make them, they will purge themselves of sin once a month, and renew their purpose to fulfil their daily duty.”

She later added, Our Lord said to me “the sacrifice that each one can make is to do his duty and to obey My law. That is a form of penance I now demand.”

Heaven’s Peace Plan

Summary of Heaven’s prescription at Fatima:

  • Stop offending God, obey His Law;
  • Believe in, adore, trust and love God; especially present in the Most Blessed Sacrament
  • Make a sacrifice of everything and offer it to God in reparation for sins and for the conversion of sinners;
  • Diligently work and pray;
  • Pray the Rosary daily with the Decade Prayer (“O my Jesus…”);
  • Observe the First Saturday devotions, including Confession: (Our Lady of Fatima asked us to make a Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays of the month: “Look, my daughter, at my Heart encircled by these thorns with which men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, strive to console me, and so I announce: I promise to assist at the hour of death with the grace necessary for salvation all those who, with the intention of making reparation to me, will, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the beads, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary.”);
  • Consecrate oneself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary;
  • Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary;
  • Wear and live the spirit of the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
