MANDATE FOR MONASTERIES TO OFFER EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

The Apostolic Constitution, Vultum Dei Quaerere of June 29, 2016 mandates:  “Conclusions and Regulations … Art.6 §1. Each monastery, in elaborating its plan of community and fraternal life, in addition to carefully preparing its eucharistic celebrations, is to set aside appropriate times for eucharistic adoration, also inviting the faithful of the local Church to take part.”

We encourage religious to make a daily hour of adoration and to have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament as much as possible.

Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen proposed a daily continuous Holy Hour in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament for all religious.  We need “psychological continuity of prayer” to ward off the octopus of distractions from the world.

Congregations that are faithful to the authentic teachings of the Church, wear a full habit, have a vibrant community life, and have Eucharistic adoration are growing!

“If you are looking for vocations, as a community have adoration often every day if possible. Once the Missionaries of Charity started daily adoration, their vocations doubled. I know I would not be able to work one week if it were not for that continual force coming from Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament (during my Holy Hour of Adoration). To be alone with Jesus in adoration and intimate union with Him is the Greatest Gift of Love – the tender love of Our Father in Heaven.” – St. Teresa of CalcuttaMost growing congregations have at least one hour of daily Eucharistic Adoration.

The Fourth Sunday of Easter  in the Latin rite, widely known as “Good Shepherd Sunday”, is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord’s instruction to, “Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. Eucharistic adoration increases and blesses vocations!

ADORERS OF THE ROYAL HEART (Sisters of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest)

These non-cloistered contemplative sisters, offer their daily prayers and sacrifices particularly for the priests of the Institute of Christ the King and the souls entrusted to them… Their day is centered around Holy Mass and the Divine Office in the traditional Latin form, an hour of mental prayer, an hour of Eucharistic adoration, and the Rosary. Punctuating this rich life of prayer are manual work and intellectual training, including instruction in Gregorian Chant, Latin, Spirituality, Philosophy, and Theology, as well as the learning of crafts such as sewing, lace-making, and the care of liturgical vestments and altar linens.

BENEDICTINES

“The Benedictine Order is the oldest religious order in the Western Church, having been founded in the early 6th Century by St. Benedict. St. Benedict’s ‘little rule for beginners,’ as he calls it, has lasted for over 1500 years because of his flexibility and insight into human nature.

  • Emphasizes Eucharistic adoration as a central point of its spirituality and daily life. Their priests and sisters dedicate time to prayer, including one hour of mental prayer and one hour of Eucharistic adoration in the evening, in addition to Holy Mass and the Divine Office in the traditional Latin form. The ICKSP considers the Eucharist the “source and summit” of Christian life, and Eucharistic adoration is a key way to deepen one’s relationship with Christ. Many ICKSP apostolates offer public Eucharistic adoration, inviting the faithful to participate in this devotion and to experience the graces associated with it.

OPUS DEI – PRIESTLY SOCIETY OF THE HOLY CROSS

There is a branch of Opus Dei for laity as cooperators or members

Opus Dei (Latin for ‘Work of God’) is a Catholic institution that was founded in Spain in 1928 by St. Josemaría Escrivá. It helps clergy and laity to seek holiness in their everyday occupations and societies.

St. Josemaria on Eucharistic Adoration:

  • Viewed adoration as an intimate conversation with Jesus, who is truly present in the Eucharist. This devotion should be the center and root of our daily lives. He encouraged a deep, personal relationship with Christ, seeing the Blessed Sacrament as a refuge for the soul. Abiding Presence: Christ our Eucharistic Refuge
  • Emphasized Eucharistic adoration as a way to join the angels’ worship and to seek intimacy with God, encouraging regular visits to the Blessed Sacrament. He taught that adoration is an act of recognizing God’s absolute sovereignty and our dependence, leading to humility, gratitude, and submission. He also highlighted that the Mass is the center of the Christian life. Understanding Adoration According to St. Josemaría Escrivá: Topic 21: The Eucharist (III) – Opus Dei and A Spirit of Adoration – Romana – Opus Dei

Practicing Adoration

Theological and Spiritual Foundations

Integration into Daily Life

  • Sanctification of Work: He taught that work, when offered to God and done with carefulness and honesty, is a form of adoration and a way to cooperate in God’s creative power.
  • Humility and Gratitude: Adoration is expressed through humility and gratitude, acknowledging one’s dependence on God, similar to Mary in her Magnificat.
  • Center of Interior Life: Holy Mass and the Eucharist as the “center and root” of one’s interior life, bring the soul into an intimate relationship with God. Topic 19: The Eucharist (I) – Opus Dei
  • Bring others to Christ: Encourage family and friends to rediscover the beauty of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. Stop and Adore: Visit to the Blessed Sacrament – Opus Dei and The Eucharist and the Mystery of the Trinity – Opus Dei

Through the profession of the evangelical counsels (the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience) the characteristic features of Jesus Christ, along with a contemplative emphasis on Eucharistic adoration, The Divine Mercy devotion, and Marian devotion, our community exists for the greater glory of God, the salvation of souls and the proclamation of God’s infinite mercy, especially for poor sinners and those who have lost hope in God’s mercy.”
