Starting at around 29 minutes, this live-streamed video of Mass posted on the parish’s YouTube channel, captures Fr. Brant Bowman visibly weeping during the consecration when he experienced something extraordinary. It took place on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at Saint Gabriel’s Church in Hopkins, Minnesota. Fr. Bowman is the chaplain of the Chesterton Academy.
Fr. Brent Bowman’s statement about his Eucharistic experience during Mass, where he wept while consecrating the Precious Blood: “I felt the heaviness of Jesus’s substantial presence in the chalice in my hands. The chalice became too heavy to hold as I felt it pulled down to rest upon the altar. I felt my hands fixed to the chalice of the Precious Blood, and I could not physically move it. Attempting to elevate the Precious Blood, which I was not able to do for a period of time, I believe I was given grace to understand more deeply the bitter sweetness of Our Lord’s Passion and how much blood Christ shed for the immense weight of all our sins.” – Full official Statement of Fr. Brent Bowman posted by the Archdiocese of St. Paul – Minneapolis Regarding his Eucharistic experience during Mass
Fr. Paul Haverstock, the pastor of the parish, reported that Fr. Brant received an intense “experiential knowledge” of Christ’s sacrifice, experiencing the profound spiritual “weight” of Christ’s blood and during the consecration, he even found it difficult at one point to lift the chalice: Facebook
Disclaimer: We do not promote images of Communion in the hand, which can result in particles of the Body of Christ being discarded and trampled upon. We haven’t had time to review the whole school Mass video – in a quick glance, it appears that everyone actually received Communion on the tongue and most knelt very reverently who received from the priest which was wonderful! If however, there were any images of Communion in the hand, we apologize. We shared this video to promote the encounter of this holy priest and devotion to the Precious Blood of Christ in order to foster faith and devotion.
