“One of the most beloved saints from antiquity is St. Philomena. With some of the most amazing miracles ever known, numerous popes and saints have invoked her intercession, but did she really exist? What do we know about her and why is she so important?”
In this great video, Fr. Alar explains that “devotion to St. Philomena is speading like wildfire.” She is the only saint who was canonized by her miracles alone, since evidence of the historical facts of her life was lacking.
She is a patron saint for purity of intention and body as she was martyred at a young age for refusing to give in to her vow of virginity, especially important for youth and for the times we are living in. She is a patron saint for children, youth, and virgins.
If you need a miracle, Fr. Alar recommends: “Go to St. Philomena”, who has obtained from God many miracles. Fr. Alar also recommends praying for miracles to St. Charbel.
The cord of St. Philomena, which St. John Vianney promoted, worn around the waist or wrist (or placed over doorway of a sick child’s bedroom), is especially helpful for those striving for purity. It is red and white, for her martyrdom and purity.
