A bleeding Host was reported at

St. Anthony of Padua parish in Morris, Indiana

on February 22, 2025.

This miracle highlights the importance of reverence and respect for the Eucharist and of not dropping Hosts. The use of the Communion plate/paten and the reception of Holy Communion on the tongue help to prevent the dropping, trampling on, and discarding of consecrated Hosts and pieces/particles of Hosts.  These help to strengthen faith in the Real Presence of Christ. Paten/Communion plates with a long handle are available through liturgical supply stores and can be ordered online.

Here is the testimony from someone from the parish:

  • “Hey family! I wanted to share an amazing thing happened at St. Anthony in Morris, IN. Some of you may have already heard. I got to see with my own eyes a ‘potential’ Eucharistic miracle! The story is that on Friday a Host was dropped during daily Mass and instead of consuming it they put it into water and left it in the tabernacle to dissolve. A few hours later the priest found another Host that had been dropped somewhere and placed that in the tabernacle as well. When the sacristan was preparing for Saturday evening Mass she opened the tabernacle to see if the Hosts had dissolved yet and found spots of blood! She immediately showed the priest, they removed it from the water and kept it in the tabernacle. When I saw it today it looked like a very very thin piece of skin with blood on it.” (Source – Facebook)

Indianapolis investigates ‘claims of Eucharistic miracle – Aleteia

  • “According to the report, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has launched an investigation to identify whether or not a Eucharistic miracle has actually occurred. In addition, it has drawn on the expert help of a professional laboratory to analyze the dissolved host, and determine its physical make-up.  Father Jacob DuMont, deputy superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, told Local 12 that, while a Eucharistic miracle would be exciting, it’s too soon to tell if this is the real deal:

“We don’t know for sure yet — but if eventually that does come to be, that’s a great — something very special. That’s a great sign that yes, Christ’s living presence is here among us,” Father DuMont said. (Source: Aleteia)

Possible Eucharistic miracle at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Morris

  • “The occurrence has not been confirmed as a miracle. (MORRIS, Ind.) – An extremely rare Eucharistic miracle may have occurred at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Morris. When a wafer that is used as a communion host [CONSECRATED HOST] falls on the floor or is disregarded, it is [CONSUMED OR] placed inside of a dish [AND SUBMERGED IN WATER] within the tabernacle to dissolve.  A communion wafer [CONSECRATED HOST] had been placed in the dish a few weeks ago. On Saturday, a parishioner opened the tabernacle and was surprised to find a red substance also in the dish. Several members of the church believe the red substance is the blood of Jesus, and that the possible miracle is known as the ‘bleeding host.’ ‘Catholics believe the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus is present in the Eucharist. We believe that Jesus manifested with blood in this Eucharist,’ she said. The bleeding host in Morris has not been confirmed, as a lengthy investigation could ensue.  When possible miracles are reported, Catholic Church leaders remain skeptical about the occurrence until proven otherwise. The next steps could involve the Archdiocese of Indianapolis who might refer the possible miracle to the The Dicastery for the Doctrine of Faith in Rome for further investigation.” Source: Possible Eucharistic miracle at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Morris
